Louise Winter is a doctoral student and an NSF Graduate Research Fellow in the Ph.D. Program in Anthropology at The Graduate Center, CUNY. She completed her undergraduate degree at North Carolina State University, receiving her B.S. in Biological Sciences. While there, she worked as a lab manager in the Hartstone-Rose Comparative Anatomy and Functional Morphology lab, where she researched variation in primate muscle density and the biomechanics of the masticatory apparatus in subfossil lemurs. Data collection for her undergraduate research has spanned multiple institutions and two continents, including two collections in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Broadly, Louise is interested in understanding the origins and early diversification of stem and crown primates and exploring how environmental and ecological pressures influence morphological changes.
