Stephen Chester

Principal Investigator

Stephen Chester is a biological anthropologist and paleontologist who specializes in the origin and early evolutionary history of primates and other mammals. He received his PhD from Yale University in 2013 under the tutelage of Eric Sargis.


Stephen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Brooklyn College, a doctoral faculty member in the Department of Anthropology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, and a core faculty member in the New York Consortium in Evolutionary Primatology (NYCEP). He is affiliated with and builds fossil collections for the American Museum of Natural History, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Florida Museum of Natural History, and Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. Stephen has also served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Human Evolution.
